Choices in Childbirth Counseling Service

Free and confidential counseling for women who would like to talk to a Clinical Counselor about their difficult birth experience.

You are eligible if you have given birth recently, are planning another pregnancy or are pregnant again and you are experiencing:

  • flashbacks or nightmares
  • numbed emotions
  • problems with concentration
  • panic attacks
  • sleeping difficulties
  • irritability or anger

Counseling is also available to women who want decision making support surrounding the benefits and risks of a primary cesarean section. You can learn more about elective cesarean section through our patient handout and video.

Women can call the clinic directly to make an appointment and do not require a medical referral. Appointments are available by appointment in the BC Women’s Hospital & Health Centre.
